This intricate tale of love stories, centuries apart, is set in the charming town of Abingdon in southwest Virginia. The old Inn holds many secrets, which the author weaves into his primary plot. Spencer Aubreys has arrived here, an author losing his writer’s focus in the midst of a painful divorce, to start healing and to rediscover his passion for writing. He is drawn two centuries back to the Civil War through the elusive Katherine Broadwater, a ghost that appears to him only. Later he meets her boyfriend, whom she has waited for all these years, and he knows what happened to him before she does. The history of Abingdon itself factors into the story. Anyone who is interested in Civil War times, knows Abingdon, or just wants an enjoyable read should get this book. Readers will likely want to visit there soon.

    INTERESTING!

This is a great book!! It’s two stories within this one book! It is very interesting reading and keeping up with both situations within the book! It keeps you in suspense of what the outcome will be…it’s one of those books thats hard to find a stopping point because you want to keep reading to find out what happens at the end.

This is one of those books where you don’t know what’s going to happen next, but at the same time, you don’t want it to end-It’s that good!! If you’re a fan of romance and or a Civil War buff, this is a great read.

Author Donnie Stevens’ historical romance, “Inn In Abingdon,” is a clever blend of fact and fiction. It is true that the inn was built in 1832. Originally, it served as a private residence before becoming a school for young women. During the Civil War, however, it served as hospital for wounded Confederate soldiers. In modern times it has been called one of the most haunted structures Virginia.

These are the facts that draw Spencer Aubrey to the inn in the hopes of reviving his writing career and stabilizing his life. Upon meeting an actress from the local theater, Aubrey finds himself spellbound by the story she begins weaving during their first encounter. From that point in the story, intrigue and suspense draw the reader into this tale as fact and fiction become more and more difficult to discern. Without giving any more of the story away, I will end by saying this is a delightful and rewarding read.

    EXCELLENT BOOK!

Being an avid reader, this was a wonderful story that intertwined the consequences of the “war between the states” and the personal “war” raging within the main character in a delightful way. As the stories gradually were revealed to the reader by the author, I quickly found myself “caught up” in the lives of those who were connected to the Abingdon Inn.
I look forward to someday reading more of the characters that were introduced in this enjoyable fiction work that carried many truths for living today. For me, Mr. Stevens was able to capture my interest immediately and held my interest throughout the book. I stayed up to finish it, once I got started

    AMAZING & INTRIGUING

This story was very interesting. I was not able to put this book down always wanting to turn the page to see the next twist it would take. The plot was intriguing and has made me want to visit this Inn in the near future. The website for this Inn has a lot of information. The ending was especially great – it was nothing I could have thought would be coming. Great job to this wonderful author. I will be buying his first book – Old Man Missing to read as well, and will be waiting for his new book to come out.

    Enjoyable & Delightful

My dear sister gave me this book as a present and I started reading it around 3:00 pm and finished it by 9:00 pm that same night. This book is a fantastic read and has multiple story lines that interconnect. While there are some things in the book that seem obvious there are plenty of twist and turns that makes this book delightfully entertaining and I would highly recommend it to all.

    Suspenseful and Intriguing…

I received this book as a gift and after reading the first several pages, it simply grabbed my curiosity. The book unfolds and intertwines a story of a gentleman (Spencer) who down on his luck meets a young girl (Katherine) in a inn whom he believes is from the theatre. The author takes the reader on a labyrinth journey of suspense and intrigue that grabs the mind and doesn’t let go until at the end where you’ll have all the answers.

I Could Not Put this Book Down!!!

I was recently on an international trip, and was reading this book on a tour bus. As we entered a big city, the tour guide was telling us the places to visit. I could NOT put this book down, and look out the window! I had to keep turning the pages! I have read many novels in my career, but none have monopolized my attention like this one!

This author possesses a special talent, allowing the reader to “feel” the emotions of his characters. The story was mysterious, heartwarming, and inspiring. I plan on sharing this treasure with many others.
